Hello all,
Many of us have had to struggle to obtain useful program performance data. It is not always an easy process of maturing project management and earned value management best practices on our commercial/government contracts. Sometimes we feel like giving up, especially during variance analysis. We know that there is a contractual requirement, but we also know that there is a real need to keep going.
Performance data is dependent upon many aspects of our programs, including systems/software engineering, project management, earned values management best practices, and project management. Other business contexts include budget, organizational culture and individual participation.
Below is a link to a one-hour video that I hope will spark discussion. Paul Solomon, PMP presented the Performance Based Earned Valu video at a DoD Data Analysis Center for Software forum held in August 2008. He discusses common performance issues and uses the concepts from PBEV to improve performance data’s usefulness by adding a quality aspect. Also discussed are topics related to CMMI, Agile and Acquisitions.
I would love to hear your thoughts and comments.
Many thanks
